It’s relatively easy to talk about progress—in fact, we do it here every other week. But actually pursuing progress, in the midst of seemingly impossible circumstances, is a whole other ball game. This unlikely optimism, this against-all-odds action, is an inherent component of progress (and also the most difficult component to master).

Why It Matters

For us at SYLVAIN, the past 18 months—after the passing of our leader and friend, Alain—was a test of our commitment to progress. But we tapped into our collective power and centered our values, and now, we’re seeing the fruits. In January, we celebrated 15 years in business. Joey Camire became our new CEO. We were named one of Ad Age’s Best Places to Work. Our work with the WNBA was recognized again, five years later, for its role in helping the brand seize its rightful place in culture.

The story of the past 18 months was one of challenges, certainly, but as with any real story it was also one of growth, joy, and renewal. What we didn’t expect was the degree to which others would care to hear that story.
